2 cups self-rising flour *
¾ cups buttermilk
½ cup COLD butter (cubed)
2 tablespoon melted butter
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, combine the COLD butter and flour using two forks or a dough blender. Make sure pea sized pieces are still visible. Pour in buttermilk and stir only until moistened.
- Place on a lightly floured surface and knead 4-5 times. Shape into a circle and gently pat or roll until you reach about ¾ in thickness.
- Cut out biscuits with a 2 ½ in biscuit or cookie cutter. Place on an ungreased cooking sheet and bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush biscuits with melted butter once they are out of the oven. Serve warm. Enjoy 🙂
Notes
- * If you don’t have self-rising flour handy, you can use all-purpose flour with the addition of ½ teaspoon baking powder and ½ teaspoon salt per cup of flour.
